Reena is a patent strategist and prosecutor, with significant experience in strategic patent procurement and portfolio development of complex technologies and processes.
She has over 25 years of experience in all aspects of United States and foreign patent procurement. Reena also has significant experience in post-issuance proceedings, including inter partes review, reexamination and reissue before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, having personally handled over 40 reexamination proceedings. She also has presented oral arguments before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
Reena has developed major patent portfolios in telecommunications, including call routing networks and interactive call processing technologies, speech recognition and processing, wireless networks and protocols, and cloud computing. She was the chief architect of one such portfolio that was licensed to over 200 companies in a $2 billion patent licensing program, one of the most successful in history.
She has also procured patents for computer software and hardware systems, internet-based and database-management systems, programmatic-advertising, market-exchange structures, artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, financial technologies, laser technologies, biomedical and radiofrequency technologies, and alternative energy systems, among others.
Reena has extensive experience in IP due diligence and has supported leading litigation firms with claim construction, technical strategies, infringement analyses, and licensing firms with developing an approach to monetization. She has represented numerous companies including Moat (acquired by Oracle), Motorola, AST Research, Rockwell International, Evans & Sutherland, Sun Microsystems, Mitsubishi, Siemens, American Express, and A2D L.P.
Before joining Patent Law Works, Reena was with several premier intellectual property firms, including Am Law 200 law firms such as Knobbe Martens. She also served a Vice-President of Intellectual Property for A2D L.P. In her legal career, she has learned from famous IP lawyers such as Francine Berry, the former chief IP counsel of AT&T.
Prior to her legal career, Reena’s engineering background includes experience as a consulting system design and test engineer, developing custom design and test software for various semiconductor companies.

- Since 1989, Reena has been registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a Patent Agent and is a member of the Patent Trial and Appeal (PTAB) Bar.
