Ben’s practice focuses on preparing and prosecuting patent applications. Prior to joining Patent Law Works as an associate, Ben was a law clerk at the law firms, Keller Jolley Preece and Maschoff Brennan, where he assisted in various intellectual property matters.
Ben has technical expertise in a variety of technological areas including antennas, optics, programming, microcontroller design, mathematical computation, web applications, mobile applications, social networks, telecommunications, and medical devices.
While earning his law degree at the University of Utah, Ben served as the Student Intellectual Property Law Association president and participated in the Lassonde New Ventures Clinic. In the Lassonde New Ventures Clinic, Ben gained valuable experience assisting a group of inventors to determine the marketability of a medical device.
While earning his B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Ben worked as a researcher determining the feasibility of transparent antennas layered over solar panels. Ben also assisted in the calibration of cameras that used lasers to determine a distance model of captured images. For his senior engineering project, Ben developed a range boosting Yagi-Uda antenna for a cell phone.
After graduating with his degree in engineering, Ben was involved in a start-up project creating electrical stimulators and working on FDA pre-market approval of catheters for use in epidurolysis.
